TENNESSEE ALL-COLLEGIATE BAND

TMEA State Conference, Nashville
April 14-15, 2010
Dr. Andrew Boysen, Jr., conductor

Tennessee collegiate band directors may submit a total of 10 names for participation in the TMEA All-Collegiate Band, but please know that not all 10 names may be selected due to section numbers and band balance, etc. It is requested that 1) the students being selected are your best musicians, and 2) it is as stratified and balanced instrumentation as possible (i.e. not 5 flutes and 5 trumpets, etc.). These student musicians should have strong musicianship skills with sight reading (the music may not be sent prior to the first meeting and rehearsal), and intonation tendencies of their respective instrument. Students do not have to be music majors, but the collegiate band director must be an MENC/TMEA member in order for their students to participate. If you are not a member, please go online to www.menc.org to join. There is a $50 fee per student. This may be paid by the university/college or by the individual students. Registration deadline is January 29. You will be notified by Christian Zembower and/or Jamila McWhirter as to which students you are to bring by February 12 and that notification letter will serve as your invoice. Payment will be dure by March 1.

Unless the college band department contributes funds, participating students are expected to pay for their travel and accommodations in Nashville on Wednesday, April 14. All rehearsals and performance will occur at the Nashville Convention Center. Students participating in this ensemble must realize that they are to be musically prepared and present at each rehearsal time all day on Wednesday and the performance on Thursday morning. The performance will occur during the Opening General Session on Thursday morning, April 15.

See rehearsal schedule and repertoire list.
