The 5th Annual Tennessee CMENC Fall Kick-Off Event
Featured Speaker: Scott Shuler, MENC President
Saturday, October 8, 2011; 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Bryan Fine Arts Building
Tennessee Tech University
Cookeville, TN
We had a great state conference and a well-attended, active CMENC meeting in April. Our new officers were elected; please take a moment to see who is representing your region. We want to keep the communication open between the individual chapters and the state officers. Our meetings and conferences get bigger and better every year!
Mark your calendars now! The fifth annual Tennessee CMENC Fall Kick-Off Event is scheduled for Saturday, October
8, 2011. It will be held in the Bryan Fine Arts Building, Tennessee Tech University, Cookeville, TN. The Kick-Off is a professional development conference for music education majors on all levels. This is the one event that caters to the needs and concerns of only the pre-service music educator.
This year’s event is extra special and a MUST for future music educators. Our keynote speaker this year is MENC President, Scott Shuler. I met him at the Mountain Lake Colloquium in Virginia and enjoyed his small group conversations and contributions to the conference. This is a great opportunity to get to know the president of your association. He will have much to say that you won’t want to miss.
The roster of presenters is still incomplete at this time, but there are some promising sessions so far. We have sessions on copyright law—for copying music as well as for arranging music; the band director who becomes a choral director; student teaching success; and more! Stay “tuned”!
Last year we had a record attendance of 67 students. Let’s make this year another record-setting conference. I look forward to seeing you there.
