Madeline Bridges is Professor of Music and Associate Dean for Academic Studies for the School of Music at Belmont University. She has degrees from Shorter College and George Peabody College and a doctorate in Music Education from the University of Alabama. She began her career teaching general and choral music in grades 5-12 and, prior to coming to Belmont University, served on the faculty of Middle Tennessee State University and as a state consultant in music for the Tennessee Department of Education.
She is a conference leader in the area of general, choral, and early childhood music and has presented workshop sessions at state, regional and national meetings of MENC, American Orff Schulwerk Association, and Mountain Lake Colloquium for Teachers of Elementary General Music, and the Organization of American Kodaly Educators. During her term as President of TMEA, Dr. Bridges led the association in an extensive restructuring of the organization. She has served twice as General Chair of the Tennessee State Music Conference and on the planning committee of two regional MENC conferences.
Dr. Bridges is Co-Director of the Nashville Children’s Choir Program and has led choir festivals as well as state and regional mass choirs and honor choirs throughout the United States. She has over thirty years experience as a director of children’s and youth choirs and recently completed a term as president of Choristers Guild National Board of Directors. Her articles and curriculum material have appeared in numerous professional journals and she is the co-author of How to Lead Children’s Choirs.
