Service

  • How do the Tri-M students in your chapter serve their school and community?

  • What makes your chapter unique?
"Our chapter is unique due to the broad spectrum of events that we host for service. We also strive to open each event to others that may not be a part of Tri-M so that every student has the opportunity to express themselves through music."

  • What are some of your chapter’s most successful service projects?
"In 2018, our Tri M wrote letters to St. Jude for Christmas, as well as collect[ed] donations of art supplies for the children there. In that same year, Tri-M hosted its first ever "Have a Heart for Music", a talent show in which students benefitted the Mid-South Transplant Foundation...This year we hosted "Caroling for a Cause", a Christmas show that took donations for the dream center."

Tennessee Tri-M
  • Why is Tri-M an important component of your Tennessee music program?
"We believe Tri-M encourages the expression of oneself that some students do not have the opportunity to do otherwise. Tri-M gives students the opportunity to belong."

  • What advice would you give to any music educators considering starting a Tri-M chapter?
"Starting a Tri-M chapter will be a great opportunity to allow your students to serve, perform, and express the importance of music."
